Theatre Programmes

The UK's premier site for West End and Fringe playbills and programmes.
Welcome to the Web's first theatre programmes site. You can find here a collection of over 5000 theatre and musical programmes, dating back from 1949 to the present day, concentrating largely on the London West End, but with an increasing frequency of fringe plays from the 1960s onwards.
The theatre programmes are catalogued in alphabetical order via the playwright's surname ( with Shakespeare and Shaw getting whole sections just to themselves ), the musicals in straight alphabetical order. This is because most plays are written by one person, most musicals by several. For example, who wrote Candide? I've put down Bernstein, but I might just have well have mentioned Stephen Sondheim, John Wells, Lilian Hellman and numerous others. And as for all those combinations of Wodehouse, Guy Bolton and the Gershwins... far simpler just to look up C in the musical section.
Also, to fine tune things, the venue is usually given, the year of production, and any significant stars or directors. Thus, here you can find fringe plays starring Rachel Weisz and Gary Oldman; West End plays with Helen Mirren, Orson Welles, Judi Dench and Patrick Stewart; student plays with John Hurt and David Warner, and a musical with Sean Connery in the chorus. Samuel L. Jackson, Joanne Whalley, John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier, Derek Jacobi, Peter Cook, Jude Law - the list goes on. Plays directed by future Hollywood directors, like Danny Boyle ( The Beach ), Richard Marquand ( Jagged Edge ) and Ted Kotcheff ( Rambo ); not to mention those directed by Sam Mendes before he won the Oscar for American Beauty. There's even a production at RADA starring Liza Tarbuck ( from The Big Breakfast ), Gary Mavers ( from Peak Practice ), and that bloke who plays Phil from EastEnders. And youth plays with Timothy Spall, Tim McInnerney, and another Tim, Roth, singing in a musical. Maybe you were there, maybe you wish you had been.
So if you fancy getting hold of everything starring Anthony Hopkins, or every play written by Arthur Miller then this is the place to start.
Tell me the ones you want, I'll calculate the postage and tell you the price. And if you do get in touch, could you please say how you found out about this site? Advert, search engine, word of mouth? It all helps. Also, as I get a lot of requests about this, just for the record I am not yet interested in anything you have yourselves, lying in a loft somewhere, gathering dust. I've got enough here to be getting along with.
In the meantime, enjoy!
